Erick Thohir: Electric Stoves Not Only Benefit The State, The Community Also

JAKARTA - BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said that the use of induction or electric stoves does not only provide benefits to the state. But it also has benefits that can be felt by the community.

Erick said, with the program to use the state's electric stove, it would save the budget for LPG subsidies. Meanwhile, the community will save 20 percent of their expenses, from IDR 147 thousand per month with an LPG stove to IDR 118 thousand with an electric stove.

"So it's a win-win, sir. So the government benefits, the people benefit, for all of us, energy security, so I am very optimistic that this movement will work well," he said at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between PLN and BUMN Karya, Wednesday, 31. March.

Erick said, the use of electric stoves was a concrete step for the government to encourage increased resilience and national energy independence. The program is considered beneficial for the community so it needs to be echoed in a sustainable manner on a larger scale.

"As I said earlier, it is impossible for the government program to run if it does not get support from the community. Bismillah, I think we at the ministry hope for even greater support to the whole community, but it will save 20 percent," he explained.

Likewise, the President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Zulkifli Zaini expressed his appreciation for the support of the Ministry of BUMN and all BUMN Karya involved in BUMN synergy.

Zulkifli said one of the efforts to encourage optimal absorption of domestic energy consumption is to invite people to switch to using induction stoves without having to rely on gas stoves.

"Because currently, the supply of energy sources for gas is still obtained through imports, so that people are in a condition of imported energy consumption," he explained.
