Bawaslu Reminds Criminal Sanctions For Disruptors Of Paslon During The 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Campaign
JAKARTA - After the determination of the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor on Sunday, September 22, the Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has mapped out potential vulnerabilities ahead of the Jakarta gubernatorial and deputy governor election (Pilgub) campaign which will take place from September 25 to November 23, 2024.
In addition to the potential for campaign vulnerabilities containing elements of blasphemy, insults, and SARA issues, the Jakarta Bawaslu also identified North Jakarta and East Jakarta as vulnerable areas related to rejection of the campaign of certain candidate pairs.
Coordinator of the Prevention Division of Bawaslu Jakarta, Burhanudin, reminded Jakarta residents that their candidate pair and campaign team have the right to carry out campaigns, so that trials are not allowed during the campaign period.
"We have launched a map of the vulnerability of the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. Some of the stages we value are very vulnerable, especially regarding the implementation of the campaign, including trial, a campaign that blasphemes, insults, and the issue of SARA," said Burhanudin.
He also emphasized that violations such as trial could lead to election criminal sanctions, in accordance with applicable regulations.

"We consider North Jakarta and East Jakarta areas to be very vulnerable to rejection in the implementation of the campaign. Therefore, we remind the public that candidate pairs and their campaign teams have the right to carry out campaigns. Inflammation is prohibited because they can be subject to criminal sanctions in accordance with the Pilkada Law," he said.
Jakarta governor Ridwan Kamil's candidate for governor was rejected when he visited the Betawi Deliberative Body (Bamus) on September 6. However, Ridwan Kamil stated that the rejection was not addressed to him personally, but because the coordination of the event was not fully mature.
