The Release Of Susi Air Pilots Could Be A New Breakthrough In The Resolution Of OPM/KKB
JAKARTA The release of Susi Air Pilot, Captain Philip Mark Mehrtens is considered to be a new breakthrough in solving the problem of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) or the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua.
"Moreover, the release uses a soft approach. This means that this proves that there is a new breakthrough in dealing with the OPM/KKB issue in Papua," said an intelligence and security observer, Ngasiman Djoyonegoro, Sunday, September 22, 2024.
The man who is familiarly called Simon revealed that the approach to the soft approach model is not the first time that Indonesian defense and security forces have done it. Because, something similar has been applied during the resolution of the Aceh conflict.

Therefore, he believes that the same pattern can be used as a common basis by the TNI, Polri and government officials, as well as other figures in resolving national threat issues including the issue of OPM/KKB in the future.
"We hope that this will be the beginning for a better future for Papua, considering that the various violence that caused casualties in the past is very detrimental to society," said Simon.
As is known, Susi Air Pilot Captain Philip Mark Mehrtens who was held hostage by the OPM/KKB led by Egianus Kogoya since February 2023 was finally released on September 21.
