JAKARTA - The government has assigned PT Berdikari (Persero) to import beef from Brazil to meet the needs of fasting and Eid 2021. Imported meat will come gradually from April to December 2021. Currently, there are 19 containers of imported beef entering Indonesia. .
Chairman of the Indonesian Meat Traders Association (APDI), Asnawi, said that imported Brazilian meat had arrived at the Pandegiling Port, Surabaya, East Java.
"For now, information after we met several Ministries including the President Director of PT Berdikari, Mr. Harry, that currently meat from Brazil has entered Indonesia and has docked at the Pandegiling port as many as 29 container boxes," he said in an interview session with IDX Channel. , Wednesday, March 31.
Asnawi noted that the level of beef consumption during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr is very high. Therefore, the government will continue to take steps to import until it meets the required standards.
Furthermore, he said in three provinces, such as DKI Jakarta, Banten and West Java, the level of beef consumption during fasting and Eid has reached 60 percent of the national consumption level.
"We are talking about the needs of three provinces, in which, currently Jakarta, Banten, including West Java are the regions with the highest national consumption level, which is 60 percent of the existing consumption level," he said.
APDI, said Asnawi, must provide stocks that can be distributed to a number of regions. In the records, from D-2 Ramadan to D-4 Idul Fitri, his party needed 46,758 tons consisting of two categories. First, 114,350 cows are ready for slaughter. The second is frozen meat 26,740 tons.

Previously, President Director of PT Berdikari, Harry Warganegara said, there were about 420 tons of Brazilian beef that would enter before Lebaran 2021.
