Trade Minister Zulhas: ESG Is The Key To Indonesia's Economic Growth
JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) emphasized the importance of implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. He said ESG is a determining factor in Indonesia's economic growth in the future.
"The implementation of ESG is no longer an option, but a global necessity that affects various sectors, including the economy and the environment," Zulhas said in his remarks at the ESG Award event of the Republic of 2024 at the Westin Hotel, Jakarta, written Friday, September 20.
The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that Indonesia's income in achieving the economic growth target in the future depends on its commitment to ESG principles.
Zulhas conveyed that the economic growth target of Prabowo Subianto's government will also be related to focusing on the implementation of ESG.
Moreover, continued Zulhas, the economic growth target set by the elected president Prabowo Subianto ranged from 6 to 7 percent.
Mr. Prabowo is very optimistic that we can achieve economic growth above 6 to 7 percent. However, this achievement is impossible without paying attention to the ESG factor, which will greatly determine our success," said Zulhas.
