1,065 Polsek No Longer Conducting Investigations, DPR: Steps Of Reformative Police Chief

JAKARTA - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives welcomes the steps taken by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, regarding 1,062 polsek throughout Indonesia that cannot carry out investigations.

According to the Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament Herman Herry, the National Police Chief has made a reformative policy as a form of fulfillment of his promises and vision and mission as conveyed in the fit and proper test in parliament.

"This is the Kapolri's reformative policy in the framework of the efficiency of the police organization. Of course this is also in line with the current bureaucratic trend," Herman said in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 31.

Herman hopes that the future performance of the police can be more measured because each polsek has its own key performance index in working in the field.

"With this policy, I hope the Police can be closer to the people," he said.

Herman also believes that this policy has been based on an in-depth study with attention to data on disturbances of security and public order (kamtibmas) in each region.

He then gave input to the Chief of Police so that in the future there would be no discrimination against police who can carry out investigations and cannot carry out investigations.

"Every policeman must have equal opportunities in career advancement," said the PDIP politician.

Previously, the National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo issued a decision regarding 1,062 police stations throughout Indonesia that could not carry out investigations.

The policy is based on the Decree of the Chief of Police Number: Kep / 613 / III / 2021 concerning the Appointment of Sector Police Only to Maintain Public Security and Order in Certain Areas (Not Conducting Investigations) as of March 23, 2021 which was signed directly by the Chief of Police, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, the National Police's decision took into account the Commander Wish priority program on January 28, 2021.

This is also a priority program in the field of transformation, institutional structuring program, activities to strengthen the police and police as the front line of Polri services with an action plan to change the police's authority only to maintain kamtibmas in certain areas, not to carry out investigations.
