7-year-old Boy Falls From 8th Floor Apartment, Metro Police Investigate Alleged Negligence

JAKARTA - A 7-year-old boy fell from the 8th floor of The Golf Modernland Apartment, Tangerang City. Police will investigate the alleged negligence behind the incident.

"This is still being investigated whether there are allegations of negligence or what kind of incident this is," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi as quoted on Thursday, September 19.

The investigation into the alleged negligence was based on the results of the interim investigation, the child was deliberately abandoned by his parents in the apartment unit in a locked condition.

The father is said to have done this because he will pick up the wife or mother of the child.

"This happened when the victim's parents were picking up his mother or wife. So he left the victim alone," he said.

Investigating steps are taken to prove whether or not there are allegations of negligence, such as asking for medical records and the results of the post-mortem.

In addition, witness examination has also been carried out. Although it did not specify the number of parties who had been questioned, Ade said they were people who were at the scene or who were responsible for apartment management.

"Has taken information on security and apartment management," said Ade.

Meanwhile, the boy's fall occurred on Monday, September 16. The incident was discovered by security officers after hearing a sound in the parking area.

The boy is said to have been rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. However, the child could not be saved and died.
