Riau Bengkalis Port Returns To Normal After The Blocked Tongkang Ship

The ship crossing activity from the Port of Roro Bengkalis, Riau Province has returned to normal after being temporarily suspended due to a barge loaded with acacia wood stuck around one of the piers.

The Head of the Bengkalis Transportation Service Shipping Division, Edy Kurniawan, said that the crossing activity had been temporarily suspended due to the pontoon carrying thousands of tons of acaciang wood stuck at pier one. The cargo of wood spilled into the sea so that it endangered the operating ship.

"The flow of the Roro Bengkalis crossing has returned to normal from morning," he said, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, September 18.

The ship that was carrying, he continued, was now no longer at pier one and had been pulled out by the ship towards the Pakning River.

As for the scattered wooden spill, there is no longer any visible around the Roro pier.

"Last night the team from the fire department and the Transportation Service deployed a small ship unit to collect wood scattered around the pier, plus the condition of the wooden tide was washed away elsewhere," said Edi.

He added that the condition of the dock one which is the location of the barge has run aground and is currently in good condition. The pier is only ready to repair the MB pole and is scheduled to be operated again in the near future to serve the flow of the crossing.

"Alhamdulillah, the condition of the dock was not damaged by the barge and this pier has just been repaired at the MB pole which previously experienced a slope," said Edi.
