Ministry Of Industry Records Export Furniture Reaches 1.2 Billion US Dollars Until July 2024
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) noted that exports of domestically made furniture products have provided benefits for state foreign exchange of US$1.2 billion during January-July 2024.
"The export potential of domestic furniture products is quite large, referring to the export performance data of the domestic furniture industry which reached USD2.11 billion in 2023 and has reached USD 1.2 billion in the period January to July 2024," said Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) Reni Yanita in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, September 18.
Reni assessed that the high interest of the global community in Indonesian furniture products was because small and medium industry players (IKM) continued to innovate and were able to adjust the development of trends as a reference and inspiration for meeting consumer needs.
He said that his party always supports the development of local furniture IKM players so that they can be more globally competitive, with strategic steps that have been taken, namely through the implementation of production technical guidance, machine and equipment restructuring, development of IKM centers and facilitation of machinery and equipment.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry is also actively holding international standard exhibitions to encourage IKM players to expand their market and product promotions, such as the IFFINA-Indonesia Meubel and Design Expo 2024 event which was held on September 14-17 in Tangerang, Banten.
