About Demi Lovato, Who Claims To Be Pansexual, What Is It?
JAKARTA - Singer Demi Lovato has described herself as pansexual in a recent interview here on The Joe Rogan Experience. Lovato said, he liked men and women and anyone between them.
"I didn't know if I was going to end up with a man, so I can't imagine myself possibly getting pregnant. I don't know. I'm so (gender) fluid right now." he said to Joe Rogan.
"You mean sexually fluid? You like girls, you like boys?" asked Rogan to which Lovato answered "yes".
"What do they call it, pansexual or something like that?" said Rogan and Lovato answered with "Yes, pansexual."
During his career in the entertainment industry, Lovato was highlighted for his love story. Being part of the Disney family, Lovato has dated Trace Cyrus, Joe Jonas, Wilder Valderrama, Henry Levy, and Austin Wilson.
In March 2020, Lovato shocked the public when he had a relationship with actor Max Ehrich. Then they announced their engagement in July and ended the romance two months later.
After that, Lovato stated his sexuality was uncertain and he was open to loving anyone.
The Heart Attack singer shared that he was attracted to women as a child when watching Cruel Intentions in 1999. However, at that time he was afraid of his sexual awareness.
“I feel ashamed that I grew up in Texas as a Christian, which is very unwelcome. "The attraction to women in my youth, I try to shut it down before I process what I feel," she said.
In 2020 he also called himself queer and not completely heterosexual. Lovato voiced this support by filming the music video for Really Don't Care for the Pride parade.
Pansexual is Different from BisexualThe term pansexual sounds foreign to each other when compared to heterosexual or homosexual. At first glance, pansexual and bisexual sound similar, but in fact they have different concepts.
Launching Psychology Today, sociologist Emily Lenning explains that pansexual is sexual attraction to someone regardless of gender, gender or sexual orientation.
Gender is an identity that is carried from birth whether he is male or female. Meanwhile, gender refers to the depiction of orientation, for example gentle women and handsome men.
A pansexual does not see and doesn't care whether the person is part of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Queer) or heterosexual.
Many often confuse pansexual as bisexual because they see a wide variety of orientations. But actually they have differences.
Bisexuals are usually attracted to gender, that is, men or women. Meanwhile, pansexual refers to all genders. However, that does not mean that a pansexual person has sexual attraction towards everyone, including transgender and androgynous.
In Greek, the word 'pan' in pansexual has all the 'meaning' which indicates that pansexual does not see the sexual identity of someone he likes.
The characteristics of a pansexual person cannot be found physically because they are related to emotionality. However, someone who is pansexual has an attraction to anyone regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
Overall, pansexuality is not a mental disorder because it does not change a person's character. Pansexual is someone who has broad preferences when it comes to liking someone.
