Had Disappeared, 115 People In Lao Cai Vietnam Survived Topan Yagi After Taking Shelter On The Mountain
JAKARTA - The death toll in Vietnam was due to the Yagi typhoon which triggered landslides and flash floods to increase to 254 people.
More than 820 people were injured and 82 people are still missing, according to the state disaster management agency.
Authorities are still looking for 41 people who have been missing since flash floods swept 37 houses in Nu Village in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on Tuesday morning. A total of 46 residents were confirmed dead.
In another village in Lao Cai, 115 people who previously entered as missing people returned safely after taking shelter on the mountain for two days without electricity and telecommunications.
They made tents from bamboo and tarpaulin after seeing their village threatened by landslides, the agency added.
"We can only bring rice and food, and when we run out of food, we will look for wild bamboo shoots to eat," said village head Vang Seo Chu.
