Ahok Asks Pertamina To Have A Thorough Evaluation Of The Indramayu Refinery Fire
JAKARTA - The President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok went directly to the location of an oil refinery fire in Balongan, Indramayu, West Java.
During this visit, Ahok together with Commissioner Condro Kirono, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Refining & Petrochemical Subholding Pertamina, Djoko Priyono, Monday 29 March.
During his visit, Ahok expressed his appreciation for the handling carried out by the Pertamina Team, both in fire fighting and handling of affected residents.
"I appreciate the steps Pertamina has taken to handle the incident and its impact on the community," said Basuki in an official statement.
In addition, he also asked for a thorough evaluation of the incidents that occurred so that they would not happen again in the future.
After monitoring the incident response efforts, the visit was continued to the main refinery facility to ensure the Balongan refinery was in safe condition because the burning tank was quite far from the refinery.
Upon receiving the review, Pertamina's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Refining & Petrochemical Subholding, Djoko Priyono, delivered an update regarding the handling of incidents and affected residents. During this visit, Pertamina has succeeded in isolating the fire so that it does not spread to other tanks.
"Since the incident, the burning tank was sprayed using foam and the fire was successfully localized by the presence of a bundwall around the T-301 tank," said Djoko.
For the affected communities, Djoko assured the Board of Commissioners that Pertamina would pay full attention to preparing a comfortable place for residents to temporarily evacuate.
