JEMBER - The police arrested a resident with the initials MR (50) carrying 6 kilograms of explosives on the roadside of Sidomekar Village, Jember Regency, East Java.
"The arrest of the perpetrator began with the routine activities of the Semboro Police Criminal Investigation Unit which was conducting regional anticipatory patrols to maintain security and order in the local sub-district," said Semboro Police Chief AKP Fatchur Rahman in Jember as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 30.
MR, a resident of Patemon Village, Tanggul District, was also caught carrying a sharp weapon and was about to fight the officer when he was about to be arrested by the local police.
"Based on the results of the investigation report (BAP), it is known that the suspect MR made and mixed the explosives, then circulated the explosives that had been ordered by the buyers," said AKP Fatchur.
During the arrest, personnel from the Semboro Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to secure evidence in the form of 6 kilograms of gunpowder, 21 sheets of gunpowder coated paper for explosive fuses, 70 ready-to-use axes.

"As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged under Article 1 paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951," said AKP Fatchur.
"The suspect and evidence are currently being held at the Semboro Police detention center and we will continue to develop the case, including to reveal the supplier of the explosives the suspect found," he continued.
