Trump Says President And Vice President Are Currently The Worst, Harris Says US Will Not Go Back To The Past
Kamala Harris said the United States would not return to the past, while Donald Trump called the current US president and vice president the worst in history.
This was conveyed by the two of them when closing the 2024 United States Presidential Election debate which was held on Tuesday night local time.
Delivering his closing statement, Republican presidential candidate Trump raised the question to his Democratic rival Harris: "Why didn't he do it?" as he tried to link the incumbent vice president to President Joe Biden's administration.
"He's been there for 3.5 years. They have 3.5 years to repair the border. They have 3.5 years to create jobs and all the things we've talked about. Why didn't he do it?" he asked, quoted from CNN September 11.
"He has to go right now, go to the beautiful White House, go to the Capitol, gather everyone, and do the things you want to do but you haven't done - and you won't," Trump said.
He sought to strengthen his argument against Harris by linking it to the "War that is taking place in the Middle East. We are at war with Russia and Ukraine," the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, which is chaotic and deadly in 2021, and immigration.
He also said Harris would ban fracking, a position he has since changed after saying in 2019 "there is no doubt I support the ban on fracking."
Ending his statement, Trump called Joe Biden and Kamala Harris "the worst president, the worst vice president in the history of our country."
Meanwhile, Harris in his closings repeated calls for his familiar campaign to the ear, "we will not be back".
He said the United States on Tuesday night had heard of "two very different visions for our country: One focused on the future, and another focused on the past, an attempt to get us into the past."
"But we're not going back," he exclaimed.

"And I believe the American people know we all have more in common than what separates us and we can map a new path forward," he added.
It is known that the Trump and Harris debate this time was held at the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia with David Muir and Linsey Davis, on Tuesday night local time and without spectators attending.
Throughout the debate, the two argued with each other in the field of economic midwives, Project 2025, abortion, foreign policy regarding the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan to the Russia-Ukraine war and the conflict in Gaza, health care to race.
