The Success Of The Red And White Team In The Paralympics Becomes A Special Gift For The 2024 Haornas
JAKARTA - The success of the Indonesian contingent at the Paris 2024 Paralympics is a gift for the commemoration of National Sports Day (Haornas). This includes being a 'vitamin' to welcome the XXI Aceh National Sports Week (PON) which opened tonight to coincide with the 2024 Haornas.
"14 medals were presented by the Red and White team at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. This is the record for the most medals won by the Indonesian team during their participation in the Paralympics," said DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, Monday 9 September.
The number of medals brought home by outstanding athletes in the country is a development for all Indonesian people. He also said that the achievements made by the Indonesian contingent in the world's disabled athletes competition were the result of the hard work and mutual cooperation of all parties, including coaches and other official teams.
Indonesia is ranked 50th in the final results of the 2024 Paris Paralympics by successfully bringing home the one gold, eight silver and five bronze medals. The Paris 2024 Paralympic single gold medal is presented by the mixed doubles number badminton sport (sports), namely Hikmat Ramdani/Leani Ratri Oktila.

According to Puan, the world of Indonesian sports is feeling the fruit of happiness with the achievements of athletes in various international arenas, including the 2024 Paris Olympics some time ago.
At the 2024 Haornas commemoration, Puan also encouraged the importance of improving the quality of Indonesian sports.
"Of course, support from the State for our sports world must be strengthened. Including the improvement of facilities, facilities and infrastructure for athletes, as well as the development of superior seeds in order to further advance Indonesia's sports achievements," said Puan.
Bung Karno's grandson also highlighted the importance of support for the welfare of athletes to coaches who have contributed a lot in improving the world of national sports. Moreover, said Puan, this is in line with Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Sports.
"And of course the progress of Indonesian sports requires support from all parties. Both the government assisted by the DPR, the educational environment, local governments, relevant stakeholders in the world of sports, related elements of society, and of course from all Indonesian people," he explained.
"This year'sHaornas can also be a celebration event for all Indonesian people for the brilliant achievements of our athletes in the international arena, including in the field of football which has recently also become increasingly proud," continued the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Coinciding with the 2024 Haornas, the XXI Aceh National Sports Week (PON)-North Sumatra (North Sumatra) will also begin soon, the opening of which will be held tonight at the Harapan Bangsa Stadium, Banda Aceh.
Puan also welcomed the joy of the national sporting event which will be held on September 9-20, 2024. PON XXI competed in 65 sports involving nearly 13,000 athletes, where several sports had started before the opening.
PON is a show for athletes. I am sure, PON will produce many outstanding athletes who will later become Indonesian representatives in various world championships," said Puan.
Puan assessed that PON is not only a sports competition for regional athletes, but also a developer of national unity and integrity.
"Congratulations to the athletes at PON XXI. Continue to be enthusiastic in achieving achievements, and always uphold and give your best performances," he told all athletes competing in PON XXI.
In addition, Puan considers PON to be 'Lebaran' for Indonesian athletes. He hopes that competitions that are colored with the spirit of unity in PON can further improve the quality of the world of national sports.
"The success of our sports world can be seen from the achievements of the athletes. So the coaching of athletes through sports events such as PON must continue to be supported because athletes are one of Indonesia's faces in the eyes of the world," he explained.
To support the XXI PON event which was held in Aceh and parts of North Sumatra, there were 18 sports venues that were built or renovated with a fairly large budget. Support for facilities and infrastructure is expected to improve the quality of domestic sports.
The rehabilitated venue must be used optimally. So after being used for the implementation of PON, of course, we hope that these venues can continue to be used as well as possible for athlete nurseries and coaching," concluded Puan.
