Legislator Proposes To Form Panja To Investigate Balongan Refinery Fire

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR RI Nurhasan Zaidi proposed the formation of a special working committee for fire investigation at the Balongan oil refinery, Indramayu, West Java. This is an effort to anticipate so that a similar disaster does not occur.

"We are shocked and concerned about this fire incident. In the oil and gas industry, all have confirmed zero accidents, the operational standards must be strict and non-negotiable for all parties, "said Nurhasan, Tuesday, March 30.

According to him, this event was a momentum to carry out a comprehensive audit of all existing oil refineries.

"This is an important step to conduct a comprehensive audit of all PT Pertamina's oil refineries," he said.

In addition, said Nurhasan, authorities such as BPH Migas and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources must also ensure that all refinery revitalization steps are taken seriously.

He urged Pertamina and the government to take quick steps to deal with the impact of the incident.

"Especially the handling of victims, the majority of whom are residents around the refinery as well as the recovery of conditions," he said.
