Julien's Auction says they sold more than 100 costumes that were owned and worn by members of Destiny's Child, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, in the late 90s and early 2000s.
The items being auctioned include the gold leather costume that singer Survivor wore at a tribute show to Diana Ross in 2000, then the metallic red and silver leather jumpsuit worn in the video clip for Independent Women Part 1, which became the theme song for the film Charlie's Angels in 2000. .
"These three clothes are very iconic and represent important songs," said Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien's Auctions, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday.
Dozens of other costumes, mostly designed by Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, are estimated to sell for between $ 600 and $ 10,000 per outfit at a three-day auction in Beverly Hills June 11-13. .
Julien's said the outfit was donated by the family of Destiny's Child after years of storage. Part of the proceeds will be donated to MusiCares, the Recording Academy charity that helps musicians who are struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Destiny's Child, one of the most influential groups of the early 2000s, changed members and officially disbanded in 2006. Beyonce became widely known as a popular soloist.
Some of the other items being auctioned include the gold Atelier Versace gown worn by the late Whitney Houston while performing in Paris in July 1998, as well as the bodysuit and motorcycle jacket that Cher wore in the video clip If I Could Turn Back Time.
