Selena Gomez Suffers A Panic Attack Before Performing At AMAs
JAKARTA - The 2019 American Music Awards (AMAs) was held Monday, November 25, United States time. Located at Microsoft Theather, Los Angeles, AMAs presents many attractive appearances. One of them, singer Selena Gomez, delivered her two new songs for the first time, Lose You to Love Me and Look at Her Now.
Selena's performance was greeted by fans and spectators alike. Moreover, the singer is preparing a new album to be released next year, so this performance can complement fans' happiness if Selena makes a concert tour later.
And like the close relationship between fans and Selena, fans are also worried about Selena's condition, who looks 'tired' when performing.
Seen from the video of her performance, Selena sings Lose You to Love Me by standing alone in the middle of the stage. Wearing a long black dress, he sang the song in an off key voice since the first verse. He looked tired but still finished the song.
After that Selena walked back and changed into a white dress. Then he performed Look At Her Now with several dancers beside him. However, again he looks awkward when dancing even though he has moved to the tune.
The awkward appearance invited a lot of questions, until a source told E! News, Selena is having a panic attack.
"Selena must have had panic attacks and anxiety before appearing and she was pushing herself," explained the source.
Selena hasn't spoken anything about her appearance on AMAs but she did write a post on Instagram that says; “Felt good to be back. Thank you to the entire team and fans who stood with me. All of this is for you and because of you. Happy for this project # SG2. "
The performance in the midst of this panic attack actually got a positive reaction from the audience where everyone appreciated Selena for remaining professional in completing her performance. A number of supports from artists and musicians also accompanied Selena's appearance, one of which was Hailey Bieber, Justin's wife who gave a 'like' button to a post showing Selena being dressed by her make-up artist Hung Vanngo.
This is not the first time Selena has had a panic attack. Last October, Selena suffered a panic attack in hospital while on medication for her mental health. At that time, the singer of the song Bad Liar was being treated for a low white blood cell count.
This condition is a common side effect of kidney transplant patients. Yes, a year earlier Selena underwent kidney transplant surgery due to her lupus disease. A month before experiencing a panic attack, Selena was also hospitalized for the same cause. However, because his white blood cell count was still low, he had to be hospitalized again. It was then that Gomez felt terrified and had a violent panic attack.
Reporting from guesehat.com, according to the American Psychological Association, the main cause of panic attacks is still unclear. Meanwhile, several studies have shown that genetic and biochemical abnormalities of the body play a role in increasing this risk. Panic attacks are also often caused by phobias, violence, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
