Pramono Anung Promises Jakarta Elementary School Graduates Can Become Orange Troops

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's candidate will claim to allow only elementary school graduates (SD) to work as public infrastructure and facilities (PPSU) officers for orange troops.

According to Pramono, the work of the cleaning staff at the village level in orange uniforms does not require a minimum requirement for higher education. Elementary school certificates are deemed sufficient if the person concerned can work to clean the environment.

"If necessary, it's enough for elementary school, the important thing is to be able to work," said Pramono in Jakarta, quoted Monday, September 9.

Since the 1960s, orange troops have initially been casual daily officers (PHL) of the DKI Jakarta Hygiene Service. They are integrated into units according to the field, ranging from road sweepers, garbage cart officers, to garbage truck drivers.

Then, when Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) served as Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, he made the cleaning staff a PPSU unit spread across the villages. They were given their orange uniform, so they were called the "orange troop".

Pramono admitted that if he won the 2024 Pilkada, he and Rano Karno, the candidate for Deputy Governor of Jakarta, would improve the welfare of PPSU, such as the Ahok era.

"Right now there is a change. The orange troop (PPSU) is cleaning, which has been Pak Ahok's mainstay, we will revive it," said Pramono.

The Cabinet Secretary added that he wanted to change the provisions of the PPSU contract. As employees with the current status of other individual service providers (PJLP), PPSU was signed a contract for one year. After that, they had to re-recruit. Pramono wants to change it to three years.

"If it is only the governor's regulation, it will be very easy to change from one year to 3 years. That's if the governor's regulation, then I will change this if I become governor," added Pramono.
