Refugees From Balongan Oil Refinery Reach 932 People, Spread In 3 Points

JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that 932 people fled to three refugee camps because of the fire that occurred at Pertamina RU VI Balongan, Indramayu Regency, Monday, March 29, early morning.

"The 932 people who fled were divided into three refugee points, namely 320 people in the Pendopo of Indramayu Regency, 220 GOR Bumi Patra and 392 people in the Indramayu Islamic Center Mosque," said the Manager of the Center for Disaster Management Operations Control (Pusdalops PB) BPBD West Java Province, Budi Budiman Wahyu was quoted from Antara, Monday night.

Based on the latest data from West Java BPBD, until Monday at 16.42 WIB, the number of minor injured victims reached 29 people and six people were seriously injured in the fire incident.

"Apart from 29 minor injuries, currently there are still 14 people identified and six seriously injured," he said.

Six people who suffered serious injuries were Kosim B Durakman (18 years), Abdul aka fair (18 years), Ibnu Ajis (18 years), Ahmad Asrori (18 years), Khoirul Ikhwan (16 years) and Dani (18 years).

Meanwhile, the Head of West Java Regional Police (Kapolda) Inspector General Pol Ahmad Dofiri ensures security around the fires at the Pertamina Balongan refinery.

He hopes that residents who evacuate will not worry about having their belongings looted. "We ensure that the area around the fire is heavily guarded by the TNI and Polri," said Inspector General of Police Dofiri.

According to him, residents who evacuate do not have to worry about their homes being looted, because security forces always patrol residents' homes to ensure their safety.

He said that apart from conducting patrols around the scene of the incident, his party also placed security personnel on the road leading to the Pertamina Balongan refinery. "We closed the road leading to the scene and the vehicle was diverted to another route," he said.
