League Result 2: Persibo Wins Thin Over Gresik
JAKARTA The Persibo Bojonegoro host team managed to secure three points in the first match of the Indonesian League 2 season 2024/2025 against their rival Gresik United.
The match between the two teams took place on Saturday, September 7 at WIB evening at the Lt. Gen. H. Sudirman Stadium, Bojonegoro, East Java.
The duel between the two teams which also marked the opening of Liga 2 for the 2024/2025 season ended with a narrow score 2-1 for the home team's victory.
Persibo took two goals first through Osas Saha in the sixth minute and Wajarbakhsh Zabihi Taher in the 25th minute. The visitors then scored to reduce the position through Azamat Abdullaev two minutes later after Persibo's second goal.
As the opening match, a number of events were held to realize the start of the derbi match. One of them is the Thengul Dance performance, which is a typical Bojonegoro dance which is performed as a sign of welcome or welcome.
The series of events then entered into the procession of handing over the trophy from the President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Ferry Paulus to three members of the PSSI Executive Committee.
Ferry Paulus then took the first kick off symbolically marking the official Liga 2 opening. Kick off was then also carried out by representatives of the PSSI Executive Committee and sponsors.
This season, a total of 26 teams are fighting in Liga 2 Indonesia. This number is divided into three groups, two of which consist of nine clubs each and the other eight clubs.
Persibo and Gresik themselves fill Group C which contains eight teams. They are with six other teams, namely Deltras FC, Persela Lamongan, Persewar Waropen, Persipal Palu, Persipura Jayapura, and RANS Nusantara.
The two groups with the most members will each pass the three best teams to the last eight. They were accompanied by two other best teams from groups with fewer members.
The eight teams that reach the last eight will later be divided into two groups, each of which contains four teams. Furthermore, leaders from the two groups will continue to the final round.

Both teams will win the status of League 2 champions and will automatically both get promotion tickets to the Indonesian League 1 next season. The second position of the two groups will play a playoffs duel to win one remaining promotion ticket.
Meanwhile, the teams that are fighting in the round of 18 will be divided into three groups, each of which contains six teams. Three teams carried away from each group will be relegated to League 3. So, a total of nine teams will play caste to League 3 next season.
Thus, the remaining 14 clubs will maintain the title of their League 2 team. The clubs will fight with clubs from Liga 1 2024/2025 who will play caste to League 2.
