Suspected Condet-Bekasi Terrorist Using Takjil For Bomb Raft

JAKARTA - The Head of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Inspector General Fadil Imran, said that the four suspected terrorists who were arrested in Condet, East Jakarta and Sukasari Village, Bekasi Regency used the term takjil when assembling bombs. It is suspected that this term was used so that the activities were not known by others.

"They term it takjil. After it is mixed it will produce a bomb with a big explosion," Inspector General Fadil told reporters, Monday, March 29.

The suspected terrorist with the initials AZ purchased explosive materials such as acetone, HCL, a thermometer and aluminum powder. The material is processed into a deck material or TATP (triaceton triperoxide) which has a high explosive power.

"TATP is a chemical compound that is explosive and is classified as a very sensitive high explosive. TATP is a peroxide compound which has a characteristic that is very flammable only with heat friction and other triggers," said Inspector General Fadil.

Because it has a large explosive power, the bomb disposal team (Jibom) decided to dispose of it, aka destroy it by detonating it.

"Therefore, the Jibom team from the Gegana Polda Metro Jaya unit decided to carry out the disposal in the two locations where the TATP was found," he continued.
