Doctor Aulia's Bullying, Attorney Asks The Ministry Of Education And Culture To Participate In Responsibility

The attorney for the family of doctor Aulia Risma Lestari (ARL), student of the Specialist Doctors Education Program (PPDS) Anesthesi Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) Semarang, Misyal Achmad, asked the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) to play an active role in investigating allegations of bullying that occurred in the educational environment.

"This is actually not the domain of the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, must be held accountable," Misyal said at a press conference in Semarang, Thursday, September 5.

Misyal explained that in the case of alleged bullying that befell the late ARL, a number of new facts were revealed, including the pattern of bullying carried out by senior doctors against their juniors in the special education program. He revealed that the education method in specialist doctor programs was still widely colored by bullying practices.

Although the family has not communicated directly, Misyal believes that there is communication between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology regarding this case. He also said that the phenomenon of bullying in the world of medical education is an "iceberg phenomenon" and many similar cases were not reported out of fear.

"Many cases are similar, but no one dares to report," added Misyal.

He hopes that the disclosure of this case experienced by his client can be an entry point to end the practice of bullying in a doctor's educational environment.

Previously, doctor Aulia Risma Lestari, a PPDS student at the Faculty of Medicine, Undip Semarang, was found dead at her boarding house on Lempongsari Street, Semarang, on Monday (12/8/2024). ARL's death, which is suspected of committing suicide, is believed to be related to the bullying he experienced during his education.
