Thursday Afternoon, Thousands Of Catholics Begin To Crowd GBK Stadium

JAKARTA - Thousands of Catholics began entering the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, September 5 afternoon. Although the mass that will be led by Pope Francis will only be held starting at 17.00 WIB, some people have sat on their respective seats.

The very hot weather did not dampen their enthusiasm to follow Pope Francis' holy mass.

People flocked to various stadium doors starting at 11.00 WIB earlier. At 13.00 WIB, people continued to arrive. Those who are confused about finding seats, are served and directed by friendly voters.

Those who got a seat beside the altar and also the pitch, were also present. Some people opened their umbrellas to protect themselves from heat.

The bracelets worn by the people show where they will sit. For example, Purple A Zone: 7B/BA, Door 76, Alur A, Row 5, SN 172. With this clear clue, it is hoped that the people will have no trouble finding their seats.

This grand mass will be attended by around 90,000 Catholics from all over Indonesia. The grand mass will be held in two different places at the GBK Main Stadium complex. A total of 60,000 congregations will be at the GBK Stadium, while another 26,000 congregations will be at the GBK Intermediate Stadium.

This grand mass with Pope Francis is a special moment for Catholics, considering the opportunity to meet directly with the Pope in Indonesia is very rare. The Pope's last visit to Indonesia took place in 1989.
