Steam Survey: Windows 11 Becomes Popular OS For Gaming

JAKARTA The number of Steam users in Windows 11 has finally surpassed Steam's use in Windows 10. This is an important milestone for Windows 11 after being launched for nearly four years.

Over the past few years, Steam usage in Windows 10 has been superior despite a newer operating system (OS). However, since last August, the percentage of Windows 11 users has increased and surpassed Windows 10 users.

Based on hardware survey data that Steam shared, Windows 11 users have reached 49 percent, three percent more than the data Steam shared last July. Meanwhile, Steam's use in Windows 10 is only 47 percent as of last August.

A number of Steam users also use other devices such as Linux and macOS, but the percentage of usage has not changed. Steam users prefer to use Windows OS to play the games they like.

It seems that the shift from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is driven by Microsoft's fixed support period. Windows has been operating for nearly ten years and Microsoft plans to discontinue its system support in October next year.

With this determination, it is not surprising that many users have switched to the latest system. Microsoft also deliberately encourages the use of Windows 11 because this OS is developing very slowly, unlike previous generation OSs.

Microsoft data leaked in October last year shows that Windows 11 has more than 400 million users. This figure proves that Windows 11 is developing very slowly. In fact, Windows 10 only takes one year to reach 400 million active users.
