Firman Sibarani Was Chosen As Ephorus Of HKI Church, Hotman Hutasoit Becomes Secretary General
PEMATANGSIANTAR - The Indonesian Christian Huria (HKI) Church has just completed a big agenda. Choosing the top leadership of HKI Ephorus for the period 2021-2026 in the 63rd synod.
The Head of the Indonesian Christian Huria Center (PP HKI) finally chose Pastor Firman Sibarani MTh as the new Ephorus. Meanwhile, the Secretary-General (Sekjen) for the period 2021-2026 fell into the hands of Pastor Hotman Hutasoit MTh.
This election was held on Saturday, March 27 evening at 21.00 western Indonesia time at the IPR Church in Pematangsiatar, using the "Manjomput Natarsurat" system (selecting rolls of paper). That is, each Ephorus candidate selects one scroll in a box. If the paper says "Ephorus", he is the one chosen.
Firman was chosen from two other candidates for HKI Ephorus, namely Pastor Batara Sihombing (Secretary-General of IPR) and Pastor Jansen Simanjuntak (Head of the Department of Marturia HKI).
Before being elected as HKI Ephorus, Pastor Firman Sibarani served as Praeses Region VI East Sumatra II in Medan. Firman is a son who was born in Tualang Village, Sei Bamban Village, Serdangbedagai Regency in 1963.
Firman started the ministry of the HKI church as a resort pastor in Tarutung, North Tapanuli Regency, in 1990. As of now, he has dedicated his life as a church ministry for more than 30 years.
Meanwhile, Hotman Hutasoit, previously served as General Secretary of the North Sumatra Region PGI. He appeared several times and also gave advice and direction to Christians in North Sumatra to face Covid-19.
Several hours earlier, there were 530 members of the synod, 15 members of the Central Assembly, and 14 Praeses (regional leaders). Synod participants come from all IPR churches throughout Indonesia. The selection for this field was the old system, checking names.
Chairman of the Committee for the 63rd HKI Synod, Ir. Reinward Simanjuntak, had stopped the counting of votes to keep the crowd enthusiastic about attending the event. "I will stop counting if no one wants to keep distance," he said over a loudspeaker.
The synod took place at the Simalungun University Auditorium, Pematangsiantar, March 26-28, 2021.
