A 10-year-old Boy In Manggarai Was Hacked With A Machete, The Police Arrested The Perpetrators Before Being Enraged By The Crowd
LABUAN BAJO - West Manggarai Police (Mabar), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police arrested a man with the initials FP (41) who was reported for molesting a 10-year-old child.
"Armed with information from the public, the alleged perpetrator was arrested in Ngawu Village, Pengka Village, Welak District, West Manggarai on Saturday, August 31, 2024," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of West Manggarai Police, AKP Angga Maulana, quoted Monday, September 2.
He added that FP (41) was arrested by the Komodo Resmob Team of the West Manggarai Police along with members of the Lembor Police and assisted by the local community.
"The alleged perpetrator was arrested by the police along with the community in one of the huts belonging to a resident in Kampung Ngawu," he said.
He explained that the victim of severe persecution was a child with the initials SBT (10), from Gorontalo Village, Komodo District.
This tragic incident occurred on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at around 16.00 WITA when SBT (10) was playing on the terrace of his house.
"Based on information from the witness who is the victim's parents, the incident occurred not far from the victim's house, only about two meters away," he said.
After the incident, the victim was immediately rushed to Siloam Labuan Bajo Hospital for medical treatment. The victim is known to have suffered a sharp weapon wound.
"As a result of the incident, the victim suffered quite serious injuries to the left side of the head due to the slashing of a sharp machete by the alleged perpetrator," he said.
Currently, he continued, the alleged perpetrator of the persecution has been secured at the West Manggarai Police and will be further prosecuted to account for his actions.
"Currently, the victim's parents and the alleged perpetrator are still undergoing the examination process by the investigative team from the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the West Manggarai Police Criminal Investigation Unit," he said.

Furthermore, from the hands of the alleged perpetrators, the police managed to secure evidence in the form of a machete and a black side bag.
"For his actions, the alleged perpetrator will be charged with Article 80 paragraph (2) of the Child Protection Law Number 35 of 2014, namely imprisonment for a maximum of five years and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million," he said.
