Peace And Unity Become Pope Francis' Mission To Indonesia

JAKARTA - Pope Francis' visit to Indonesia on September 3-6, 2024 has an important meaning and noble mission that will be voiced, namely world peace and unity between religious believers towards better humanity, true brotherhood, and goodness for society.

"So I am sure the messages will be conveyed not only for the internal Catholic Church, but also inclusively for all parties who will be involved," said representatives of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) as well as spokesman for the Pope's Visit Committee Francis, Father Thomas Ulun Ismoyo in his statement, Saturday, August 31.

According to him, in every visit to various countries, Pope Francis always conveyed meaningful messages of peace and unity that were not only devoted to Catholics but for the entire community there.

It is said that Indonesia is a very diverse society, including religious backgrounds. Therefore, Pope Francis' visit which is scheduled to meet interfaith figures can be a momentum to voice peace and goodness for mankind.

"In Indonesia, religious leaders play a significant role because religious leaders have a society and have influence. So when these religious leaders have a society and influence, unity, ally, have the same dreams, the same concern, let us join hands to lead to better humanity, more true brotherhood, and common goodness for society," he said.

It is planned that the supreme leader of the world Catholic Church, Pope Francis, will travel a completely to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, and Singapore, on September 2-13, 2024. Later, Pope Francis will interact not only with the Catholic community, but also with other religious communities in Indonesia, which aim to spread the message of peace.

Indonesia became the first country in a series of visits by Pope Francis to the Asia Pacific region, namely September 3 to September 6, 2024.

Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on September 3, 2024 at noon. Then, the next day or September 4, 2024, the leader of the Catholics is scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Then, on September 5, 2024, Pope Francis is scheduled to attend an interfaith meeting at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, and continue with meetings with beneficiaries of charitable organizations at the KWI office.
