Burning Oil Refinery, Islamic Center Indramayu Becomes A Refugee Location

JAKARTA - Hundreds of residents were evacuated after a fire at the RU VI Balongan oil refinery, Indramayu Regency, West Java. They were evacuated to three different locations.

"Based on temporary data, there are 720 refugees who have been evacuated", said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Erdi Adrimulan Chaniago to VOI, Monday, March 29.

Erdi also detailed, for 320 people to be evacuated in the Regency Hall Indramayu. Then, 300 people took refuge at the Islamic Center Indramayu. The rest took refuge at Singalodra Indramayu Sports Hall.

Meanwhile, for the injured victims, Erdi said that so far there have been 28 people recorded. Of which 5 of them suffered serious injuries and the rest were lightly injured.

"For 5 people there is no information about what percentage of their burns", he said.

For information, the oil refinery fire itself occurred on Monday, March 29, early in the morning around 01.00 WIB, the fire that caused the explosion was heard for more than five kilometers.
