Police Name ASN Student Obscenity Suspect
PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Regional Police have named a state civil servant (ASN) as a suspect in the sexual abuse case of a student in Palembang City.

For the suspect's actions, a student at a university in Palembang, namely AF (17) years, became a victim of sexual harassment.
"As for the modus operandi of the perpetrator who intensely contacted the victim via WhatsApp messages with the aim of going to the victim's boarding house. The perpetrator molested the victim. He said 'It's the first time you're left by your parents, it's good to be in someone's city, my parents are tired of making money. If there's a problem on campus, just tell me, think of me as a person," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 28.
He said the suspect came and entered the victim's boarding house. The suspect sat on the bed chatting and giving advice to the victim.
Not long after, the suspect then kissed the forehead, eyes, cheeks, then when he kissed his lips, the victim immediately pulled the suspect's head, saying 'don't sir'.
But KR answered okay. After that, the victim asked the suspect to go home on the grounds that tomorrow he wanted to go to college.
On Sunday, August 25, 2024 at around 20.30 WIB, the suspect took the action again and this was known by witnesses and there was evidence in the form of video recordings, which the suspect was arrested by the public and handed over to the police for legal proceedings.
Now the suspect is charged with Article 82 paragraph 1 of Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning the stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law no. 1 of 2016 concerning the second amendment to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning child protection into a junto Law article 76 letter E, Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning child protection.
The suspect is being held at the South Sumatra Police detention center and the case is in the process of being investigated by the investigation team of the Renata Ditreskrimum Police of South Sumatra.
"Investigators work professionally and proportionally, immediately finalize the case file and will immediately send it to the prosecutor," said Director of Criminal Investigation of the South Sumatra Police.
