Kaesang Allegedly Plesiran To The US Using A Private Jet Financing An Online Shopping Application

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) suspects that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son, Kaesang Pangarep, traveled to the United States using private jets facilitated by the online shopping application Shopee International Indonesia. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was asked to carry out an investigation.

This was conveyed by Boyamin, who had sent a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document in collaboration between the company and the Solo City Government to the anti-corruption commission. He said the agreement signed by Gibran Rakabuming Raka while serving as mayor focused on developing MSMEs.

"My step in submitting the document is to welcome the wishes of Mr. Alexander Marwata (Deputy Chairperson of the KPK) who in yesterday's statement will follow up and has ordered his staff to examine allegations of gratification related to Kaesang's plane," Boyamin said in a statement to reporters, Wednesday, August 28.

Boyamin said this file could be an entry point to investigate whether or not there was receiving gratuities by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). According to him, Kaesang still has a family relationship with Gibran.

"In the technical instructions of the Ministry of Religion, it also concerns the child and wife and it means that the brother who gets the flight ticket facility can also be categorized as an alleged gratification," he explained.

"Well, why is Kaesang associated with Gibran? Yes, because the slice is there. Whatever Kaesang is, Gibran's sister. And it is suspected that the plane is also related to PT Shopee," continued Boyamin.

Boyamin hopes that the anti-corruption commission can immediately move to trace the use of the private jet. "Whether there is gratification or not," he said.

Furthermore, Boyamin also hopes that Kaesang can explain the use of the plane. He was also asked to return the money if it was facilitated by Shopee to travel abroad with his wife, Erina Gudono.

"At least Kaesang returned the money worth of ticket prices from Jakarta to Los Angeles. In business class, yes, between Rp50-90 million. If it is done by Kaesang, paying is clear and has nothing to do with busy alleged processes," said Boyamin.

"So this is a step to help the KPK and also help Kaesang so that the case is clear," he said.

As previously reported, Kaesang Pangarep, who is the youngest child of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his wife, Erina Gudono, is in the spotlight for boarding a private jet to the United States. In addition, Jokowi's son-in-law also uploaded a luxurious lifestyle during the plesan.

Responding to this, KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata claimed to have ordered the Director of Gratification of the KPK to follow up on the polemic of the private jet used by Kaesang Pangarep and his wife Erina Gudono. This kind of information must be investigated because everyone has the same position in the eyes of the law.

"We have the same principle for everyone in the same position before the law. The leadership itself has actually ordered the Director of gratification, please clarify the information from the media," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 27.

Alexander emphasized that his subordinates should not hesitate to follow up on this information. "It is a public concern, it is also a public concern, yes we must also be sensitive," he said.
