JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police and the Central Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit arrested and confiscated dozens of two-wheeled vehicles from the illegal racing area along Jalan Benjamin Sueb, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, August 28.
"The number of motorbikes that we have secured is 12 racing motorbikes and clay racing riders," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police, AKP Fauzan.
Furthermore, AKP Fauzan said that the drivers were caught while the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police and the Central Jakarta Metro Police were on patrol. Seeing the crowd at the location, joint officers immediately went to the motorcyclists who were carrying out illegal racing.
"When we visited them they wanted to run away, but their steps were stopped after joint officers blocked the road," he said.
AKP Fauzan said that illegal racers who could not show vehicle documents and motorbike specifications that did not match the factory's luggage were immediately secured and confiscated.
"Those who could show the officers' letters immediately let them go home. Drivers who could not show their motorbike documents were immediately arrested," he said.
AKP Fauzan said the location of Jalan Benyamim Sueb was often used as a wild racing event. The illegal racing is usually also a place to bet money and others in illegal racing competitions.
"We get reports from residents and drivers who are restless with the herd who often do illegal racing. Usually they are betting on motorcycle racing and often close the road," he said.
