133 NX Lexus Units In The Philippines Must Go Through Improvement Programs, What's The Reason?
JAKARTA - Unpleasant news came for Lexus NX users in the Philippines. The reason is, the Japanese premium brand is holding a service campaign for the SUV locally.
Quoted by Top Gear Philippines, Tuesday, August 27, this news emerged based on an appeal from the local Department of Trade and Industry involving a total of 133 NX units produced from November 15, 2021, to February 27, 2023.
It was reported that the trigger for the start of the program was because NX had problems related to the Forward Recognition Camera feature. The system has the potential to experience memory failure when the vehicle's contact key is turned off due to an error in the software.
Thus, this can result in a system such as the Pre-Collition System (PCS) malfunctioning. Affected vehicle owners must come to the Lexus authorized dealer network to replant or replace the camera.
"Restrictions involved with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly recommended to immediately make an appointment with the Lexus official Dealer to reprogram the necessary Front Introduction Camera and prevent problems," Lexus wrote in a statement.
The owner of the affected vehicle will be notified by an accredited Lexus dealer network for repairs. Technicians will replant or replace the front camera and are free of charge.

In Indonesia, the NX SUV must go through a recall program together with other Lexus models such as RX, LS, and ES as well as Toyota bZ4X electric vehicles (EV) from December 2022 to August 2023.
The trigger for the start of the program was due to an error in the Front View Camera and Near View Camera systems, so repairs or component replacement were needed.
The company said the system experienced an underoptimal laser welding in a camera container in the supplier at the time of assembly, thus potentially creating a camera container to be released if exposed to external pressure from time to time which causes water to leak into the camera.
If this is allowed, the circuit inside the camera can experience a short circuit which causes the inability to display images of the area in front and back of the vehicle properly.
