Marshel Widianto Loses One Party's Support To Advance For Regional Head Election Due To Constitutional Court Decision

JAKARTA - Komika Marshel Widianto lost one party support to advance to the 2024 Pilkada due to the DPR RI's decision to continue using the Constitutional Court's decision in this year's election.

Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Achmad Yani explained that the Constitutional Court's decision was about reducing the threshold for nominating regional heads, which was the reason PKS canceled the investigation of Marshel Widianto in the South Tangerang Deputy Mayor election.

"Yes, of course with the Constitutional Court, PKS has a chance there to run," Yani told reporters, Tuesday, August 27.

Previously, PKS party cadre Tifatul Sembiring had announced that Marshel Widianto and his partner, Riza Patria, would be replaced with another partner through uploads on his X account.

"God willing, PKS will carry the Ruhama-Shinta pair in the South Tangerang Pilkada. It will be diverted from the previous one to Riza-Marshel. Thank you for the advice of all of your friends," said Tifatul, quoted by VOI from the X account, Tuesday, August 27.

Komika Marshel Widianto was appointed to become a candidate for deputy mayor of South Tangerang through the Gerindra party. This was conveyed directly by the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Through his personal Instagram account, Sufmi Dasco declared Marshel Widianto's candidacy along with Banten Governor Candidate Andra Soni.

"On this occasion, I reiterated instructions that the Candidate for Governor of Banten, namely Andra Soni and the Candidate for Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang, namely Marshel Widianto," wrote Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, quoted by VOI from his personal Instagram, Friday, June 21.
