KPAI Highlights Cilincing Domestic Violence Involving Child Victims

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has spoken out regarding the case of domestic violence (KDRT) experienced by Nurul Hidayanti (28) with the reported Wakidi (48), her husband. Because, in this case, Nurul's 5-year-old son was also a victim of violence.

"I followed up with the Resort Police (North Jakarta Metro,' said KPAI Commissioner, Diyah Puspitarini when confirmed, Monday, August 26.

Diyah felt that this case needed good handling. Because, if it is proven that violence is experienced by children, and witnessed by children, it will have an impact on children's growth and development. In fact, it is possible that the child will later grow up doing the same thing as his father. That's what KPAI is worried about.

"It's very possible, because they see their parents like that every day. Well, this is what many parents don't understand. According to them (mothers) adult conflicts are only those who understand. But actually children who hear, see and also become victims also experience physical and psychological trauma, "said Diyah.

KPAI follows up on this case by paying attention to the condition of children. Child victims must be rehabilitated and assisted, in order to prevent them from following what their father did to their mother.

"So rehabilitation and assistance are very important for these children, especially for children under five who are prepared for a more comfortable growth and development environment will help cure trauma," he concluded.

Wakidi (48), a man whose wife reported on allegations of domestic violence (KDRT) also often hits his 5-year-old son.

Nurul, Wakidi's wife, when her husband was trampled on her, her child tried to help her. Instead of ending her act, Wakidi hit the child.

"When I was being teased, I was beaten in the head, in my neck, my son was nolongin (helping-ed), hit (beating). Also, because he must have died," said Nurul, Monday, August 26.

As a result of being hit by the father, the child suffered bruises on the stomach.

"Meaming in the stomach," he said.
