Mourinho's Love For Ibrahimovic Won't Make Them Reunite At Spurs

LONDON - Jose Mourinho rejected Zlatan Ibrahimovic's move to Tottenham Hotspur by saying he already had England's best striker, Harry Kane.

Ibrahimovic was linked with the south London club after Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino last week. The two of them worked together at Inter in the 2008-2009 season and at Manchester United in 2016.

Speaking ahead of his inaugural Champions League match under the name Tottenham on Tuesday, November 26, evening, Mourinho defused speculation that he would bring in the 38-year-old striker with free agent status.

"I have more than just a connection (with Ibrahimovic)," Mourinho said as reported by Soccerway, Tuesday.

"He is an amazing player, a great man, but I would say there is no chance for him here (Spurs). We have England's best attacker. We have one of the two or three best strikers in the world," continued 'The Special One. '.

Mourinho continued his praise for Ibrahimovic by saying, a striker from the dimensions of Ibrahimovic - who is in his late 30s - is still a striker who can play at any club in the world.

"[But] it doesn't make sense to sign him when we have Harry Kane," he continued.

Apart from Ibrahimovic, Tottenham confirmed Ben Davies would not be available for the match against Olympiacos after picking up an ankle injury against West Ham at the weekend. In contrast, Tanguy Ndombele and Jan Vertonghen already took part in Monday's training session.

Currently, Spurs are five points behind Group B leaders Bayern Munich but will qualify for the last 16 if they beat the Greek side at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
