Preparations For Aceh-Sumut PON Highlighted, Facilities Up To Number Of Sports
JAKARTA - The 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) was highlighted regarding the readiness of venues to the number of sports (Sports) which were considered too large.
Sports observer Fahmy Fachrezzy assesses that the preparation for the PON must be mature. Because, the sporting event should be a continuity athlete development.
"PON must be sustainable, so coaches and administrators need to develop continuous programs from Popnas, Pomnas, PON, to Asian Games in the future. This will make athlete coaching more structured and systematic," said Fahmy in his statement, Saturday, August 28.
Then, the most important thing is the facilities and infrastructure provided by the committee. Including the issue of venues that must be clear before the North Sumatra Aceh PON starts from September 8 to 20.
"What is very important is the facilities and infrastructure provided by the committee, including the venue, it must be clear. Because so far the committee is not ready, it is stuck in preparing the venue, so there must be an in-depth evaluation of the committee's preparation and venue," he said.
"My advice is that the committee must be extra in preparing venues in Aceh-North Sumatra, because this has a big impact on the quality of matches and events," continued Fahmy.
Then, the man who is the coach of the DKI Jakarta Aerobic Gymnastics also suspects that there is an interest in the host to get better.
Including, the number of sports set by KONI is too much. This is because only sports that are included should be included in the Asian Games and the Olympics.
"This is in line with the athlete's coaching program for future Olympic sports," he said.
The sports that will be competed in the North Sumatra Aceh PON are far more than the previous PON performances. Even Fahmy also compared the national sports week in Malaysia.
From previous years, the number of sports in PON continued to increase from Riau with 43 branches, West Java with 44 branches, Papua with 37 branches, and this year reaching 65 branches. In my opinion, this is too much when compared to other countries, such as Malaysia which only has 32-38 branches in the Asian Games," said Fahmy.
