The Settlement Of The IKN State Mosque Delayed To 2025, Constrained By Land Problems To Design Revision
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that the construction of the State Mosque in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, will be completed in 2025.
Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force (Satgas) of the Ministry of PUPR Danis H. Sumadilaga said that currently the progress of the construction of houses of worship has reached around 19 percent.
"Lastly we checked, the progress was only around 19 percent. Maybe (it can be finished until 2025)," said Danis when met at his office, Friday, August 23.
Danis said, there were a number of obstacles that caused the State Mosque project to be delayed until next year. For example, related to the design revision which was originally able to have a capacity of 20,000 people to 60,000.
"Yesterday there may also be problems related to the land there. So, maybe later we will evaluate the time required with the progress," he said.
According to Danis, there are other obstacles that also cause the State Mosque project to likely be completed next year, namely heavy rain.
"For example, because it rains, yes. Maybe in order to match our own calculations initially, how long will it take," he explained.
Previously, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the work of the State Mosque had reached 18.7 percent since the groundbreaking was carried out by President Joko Widodo on Wednesday, January 18, 2024 and is planned to be completed in December 2024.
He assigned contractors and construction management consultants to immediately prepare parking space not far from the mosque building.
In addition, Basuki asked the Construction Management Consultant to strengthen access and circulation of vehicles for 60,000 pilgrims to be more efficient and increase green space in the mosque area.
"Please, if there are large and good trees, don't cut them down, it's better to move them. We will increase the number of plants to make them greener," Basuki said as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of PUPR, Monday, August 19.
