Mazda Opens Up About The Potential Production Of The Iconic SP Concept Model
JAKARTA - At the end of 2023, Mazda showed off the Iconic SP at the Japan Mobility Show (JMS). This car is featured in a concept version that has a futuristic and beautiful design.
The presence of this concept also shows the brand's commitment to providing vehicles that have the characteristics of pleasure in driving. However, what about the opportunity to be presented in the production version?
Marketing Director Mazda Australia Ala Berkayan Doak, said that not all concept cars refer to new models in the future, but still have a specific purpose or purpose.
"Some concept cars are prepared as design exercises," said Doak, quoted from Drive, Friday, August 23.
He also gave an example of other concept models such as Vision Coupe and RX Vision which were displayed several years ago. Although not present as a production version, his presence has its own purpose.
"I think Vision Coupe and RX Vision are really here to talk about the evolution of Kodo's design language and also other things that are Mazda's identities," added Doak.

The concept of RX Vision was first introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. At that time, this concept was referred to as the successor to RX-8, which was stopped production in 2012.
Once heralded to be a competitor to Nissan Z and Toyota Supra, this concept has ultimately not appeared in the production model to date.
Then, Mazda also presented Vision Coupe in 2017 which was speculated as the successor to Mazda's future 6. Unfortunately, this Japanese manufacturer did not introduce it to the production version.
Returning to the Iconic SP, this concept is a step for the company to present an electrification model. The company says the car is equipped with two unique Mazda rotors that offer unique capabilities.
The high output generated by the EV system rotates two rotors, the lower proportion of the center of gravity, and the weight distribution around 50:50 results in excellent driving performance. In addition, even though it is a sports car, it can supply energy while enjoying free time outdoors and when a disaster occurs.
In addition to reducing the amount of emissions, the car has environmentally friendly components. The battery is filled with recyclable energy sources and a two-rotor rotor turning machine, which is used for power generation, powered by fuel
