Rizieq's Supporters Were Arrested By The Police For Provoking, Now Under Intensive Examination

JAKARTA - Several Rizieq Shihab's supporters were arrested by the police from the area of the East Jakarta District Court. They were arrested because they were suspected of provoking them so that they pushed each other.

"Three times we appealed to the crowd to disperse so that we previously secured one or two people to carry out education and at the same time reminded them not to take provocative actions that would result in a crowd. Hopefully this is understood", said East Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Erwin Kurniawan to reporters, Friday, March 26.

The crowd was asked to disperse because of the COVID-19 pandemic conditions. It is feared that the crowd will cause the spread of COVID-19.

"Yes, of course, activities that are like the speech of encouragement and so on. We want to know, do not let the result of the actions of these individuals trigger others to gather and not obey the health protocol so earlier we did antigen swab to those concerned too", he continued.

Those who were secured were immediately questioned by the police. The police just want to make sure no action disturbs security or even causes a crowd in the arena outside Rizieq Shihab's courtroom.

"Yes, of course, we are only by Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Code asking the identity of a person and then conducting an interrogation so that it is clear that the person concerned is not part of what we suspect has other bad intentions", said Chief Erwin.
