Bareskrim Names One New Suspect In Turap Tana Tidung Development Corruption Case
TANJUNG SELOR - The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police Headquarters has named a new suspect with the initials Sa in the case of alleged corruption in the construction of a sheet pile for the 2010-2013 fiscal year in Tana Tidung Regency (KTT).
The determination of this suspect is the result of the development of an investigation which previously named Imbransyah as a suspect and became a convict after being convicted by the Samarinda Corruption Court, East Kalimantan.
The Public Prosecutor of the Bulungan District Attorney (Kejari), Rahmatullah Aryadi, when confirmed, said investigators had appointed Sa, who at that time served as chairman of the construction procurement committee for sheet piles in Sewingah District, Sesayap Hilir District, and Tana Lia District, the Summit in 2010-2013.
"The determination of the suspect against S is the development of inmate Imbransyah as Head of the Public Works and Transportation Office of Tana Tidung Regency as well as budget user (PA)," said Rahmatullah, Tuesday, August 20.
"The case handled by Bareskrim is entering a new chapter," he continued.
The handling of corruption cases with the suspect Sa resulted in state losses of up to Rp. 95 billion. Currently, it has entered phase II or the submission of suspects and evidence) from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters to the Attorney General's Task Force Team (AGO) at the East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) on Tuesday (30/7).
"The case file has been declared complete by investigators," he said.
However, the trial schedule has not yet been determined. Because the prosecutor's team extended the detention period for Sa for the next 30 days.
"From the public prosecutor, he extended the suspect's detention period with the aim of preparing documents for the trial. Currently S is being held at the Samarinda detention center," he said.
He explained that currently only one suspect has been named in phase II.
The prosecutor has not been able to conclude whether there are other suspects or not because a direct investigation from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters is ongoing.
"Regarding the decision of the panel of judges against Imbransyah. We are filing an appeal," he explained.
He emphasized that the prosecutor's appeal was carried out due to the judge's decision against the former Head of the Public Works and Transportation Service Tana Tidung that was not in accordance with the prosecutor's guidance, namely imprisonment for 10 years.
"The judge's decision is not yet two-thirds of the demands. So, it has not fulfilled the sense of justice," he added.
Moreover, his actions were detrimental to state finances. The defendant as a state civil servant (PNS) called the judge did not assist the government in efforts to eradicate corruption.
"The panel of judges sentenced Imbransyah to 5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison. So, the verdict of the panel of judges at the Corruption Court is lighter than the prosecutor's demands. 10 years in prison," he said.
