Sammy Totaling His Last Moments With Eddie Van Halen
JAKARTA - Regrets always come too late. This was experienced by guitarist Sammy totaling when he finally found out he had to part ways with Eddie Van Halen.
He regretted that his decision did not pay more attention to his best friend in the final days of his life. In an interview with AZ Central, Sammy recalled the moment of his conflict with Eddie in the past.
Back in 2004, Van Halen toured Eddie's unhealthy lifestyle. At that time the guitarist was in dependence on illegal drugs.
At the end of the tour, Eddie even had time to lie on stage. Sammy recalls, at that time Eddie lay on stage and apologized to fans because he was running out of energy.
"Eddie fell at that time. I knew he was in unhealthy condition along the tour. Without intending to bring up his bads, but at that time he did torture his own body," he said as quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock, Tuesday, August 20.
Sammy Total could only see that moment as one of those bitter memories. "I can only sit down, shake my head, and say 'Oh my God, this is a bad memory'," he added.
The incident disappointed Sammy, but over time he tried to make peace with it. And he admits he was a bit sorry when he found out Eddie's condition was getting worse.
"I should have tried harder to reconnect. Maybe I've tried, but I feel I can still do more than I don't care," regretted Sammy.
Sammyction and Eddie Van Halen's relationship improved in 2020, which seems a bit late. A few months after the meeting, one of the legendary guitarists the world has passed away.
