Arifin Tasrif Removed By Jokowi, Bahlil Lahadalia Officially Becomes Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo officially inaugurated Bahlil Lahadalia as minister of energy and mineral resources (ESDM) today, Monday, August 19. He officially replaces Arifin Tasrif.

The inauguration was held at 09.30 WIB at the State Palace, Jakarta. This activity began with singing the anthem Indonesia Raya.

A number of ministers and officials were present at this activity. Among them are Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto to Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Furthermore, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 92P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the State Minister of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet for the 2019-2024 period was read out. President Jokowi then led the procession of taking the oath of office of minister.

"I swear that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible for the sake of my service to the nation and state," said Jokowi, dictating the oath of office that Bahlil followed at the inauguration.

"That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of my position, work my best, with a full sense of responsibility."

It is known that Arifin Tasrif and Bahlil Lahadilia were both appointed ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet since the second period of Jokowi's leadership.

Arifin was appointed minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2019, replacing Ignasius Jonan, who served in the first period of Jokowi's leadership in 2014. Meanwhile Bahlil was appointed minister of investment/head of the investment coordination agency in April 2021.
