PKB Collaborates With TNI/Polri To Pecalang To Secure Congress In Bali
JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) held the 6th Congress on August 24-25, 2024 in Bali. The chairman of the PKB Congress Committee, Cucun A. Syamsurijal, said that his party was collaborating with the TNI and Polri to secure the continuity of the event.
This guard is in line with the conflict between PKB and the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board which is heating up. In fact, there was a suggestion to PBNU to hold a counter congress.
Cucun ensures that every agenda carried out by PKB always coordinates with the TNI and Polri as a form of legal compliance.
"This PKB lives under the umbrella of the Political Party Law, all steps taken are obedient to the law. When talking with security, you must coordinate with the TNI and Polri," Cucun told reporters, Monday, August 19.
The number of personnel that will be deployed by the TNI/Polri to secure the PKB Congress on August 24-25, 2024 will adjust to their needs.
In addition, PKB also cooperates with Pecalang or Balinese traditional police to help secure the PKB Congress.
"Not only from the TNI and Polri, yes. We are also collaborating with Pecalang to help secure it. Of course this is because our congress is held in Bali, they have a tradition that we must respect together. Now the Pecalangs will later become their strongholds," he explained.
Furthermore, Cucun emphasized that there are requirements for participation to attend the PKB Congress. This refers to the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART).
In Article 73 paragraph (1) of the PKB ART, participants in the PKB Congress are divided into five items, namely the PKB DPP management, PKB DPW administrators, PKB DPC administrators, leaders and members of the PKB faction of the DPR RI, as well as heads of agencies and institutions at the central level.
"So if it is not included in this category, don't try to enter the congress arena. And referring to paragraph 3 (Article 3 ART PKB), the PKB Congress is declared valid if it is attended by at least 2/3 of the legitimate DPW and DPC," explained the chairman of the PKB faction of the DPR RI.
Previously, PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar warned of the potential for a counter congress that was different from the PKB Congress on August 24-25 in Bali.
If there are certain parties who hold a counter congress in the midst of the current conflict between PKB and PBNU, Cak Imin will not hesitate to ask the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit, to dissolve it.
"There is only 1 congress in Bali. If there are people on behalf of the PKB Congress, it's wild. I ask the National Police Chief to firmly dissolve it for the sake of the Political Party Law," said Cak Imin at Darul Rahman Islamic Boarding School, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 15.

Cak Imin emphasized that the counter congress in addition to the PKB DPP management was illegal. This is because PKB is a legal and protected political party under law.
"We as legal political parties are protected by law based on the Political Party Law. I am the Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI valid, Mr. Jazil Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI is legal, then this party is legally valid. If there is something in the name of PKB, don't blame it if we disband," explained Cak Imin.
