M 7.0 Earthquake In Russia Has No Impact On Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that Indonesia was safe from the impact of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that rocked Russian waters on Sunday, August 18 in the early hours of the morning.
"Based on the results of tsunami modeling and analysis carried out by the BMKG team, this earthquake has not had a significant impact in Indonesia," said Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center Daryono, quoted by ANTARA.
Daryono appealed to people in the country to remain calm and not believe in information that cannot be justified, other than what was published by BMKG.
In the information received, BMKG reported that an earthquake occurred in Kamchatka, Russia M 7.0 which had been upgraded to M 7.1 on Sunday morning at 02.10 WIB.
The epicenter of the Russian earthquake is located at sea at coordinates 52.97° LU 160.01° BT with a depth of 35 kilometers.
