Prediction Of Increasing Food Needs Ahead Of Ramadan, DKI Deputy Governor: Citizens Don't Panic
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, predicts that there will be an increase in demand for food commodities ahead of this year's Ramadan. However, Deputy Governor Riza asked residents not to panic.
"For the citizens of Jakarta, we ask not to panic, don't worry. Until today, Jakarta has never had a problem with food. Under normal conditions and during a pandemic, even though Ramadan, food is available," said Deputy Governor Riza in a virtual discussion, Thursday, March 25. .
Deputy Governor Riza said, from year to year there will be an increase in food demand of up to 15 percent during Ramadan. Chances are, the food supply will be limited. It is predicted that food prices will increase by 5 percent ahead of the month of Ramadan this year.
"Indeed, there is usually an increase in the quantity of 10 to 15 percent, but everything is affordable. On the one hand, it gives benefits to farmers, of course there is an increase in traders, although for consumers it is considered burdensome," said Riza.
In food stability efforts, including just before Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 2021, Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Arief Nasrudin, said that his party continues to expand the food distribution chains in Jakarta which have started from 2016-2017 until now in order to shorten the chain of food distribution.
To date, there are four Jakgrosir as food stores for market traders and KJP holders. Then there are shops as small "granaries" that have now entered the kelurahan and kecamatan in a fairly significant number.
"These various efforts are to simplify the link between Pasar Jaya and Dharma Jaya, becoming a barometer and the direct role of producers to traders," said Arief.
