Police Thwart The Circulation Of Methamphetamine 30 Kilograms Of The International Network In Sidoarjo
JAKARTA - The Sidoarjo Police Narcotics Satres team thwarted an attempt to circulate 30 kilograms of methamphetamine which is suspected to be an international network.
East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto said one suspect as a pickup driver carrying 30 kilograms of methamphetamine evidence was arrested in this case.
"From this disclosure, one person was arrested on behalf of MI, alias Iyek, a resident of Sampang who contracted on Jalan Perlis Selatan, Perak Timur Village, Customs Cantisan District, Surabaya City," said the East Java Police Chief as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 16.
This case is the result of the development of an investigation from the previous case, namely a married couple who was arrested on April 17, 2024 in Bangsri, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency.
"The husband and wife couple who were previously arrested by the Sidoarjo Police Narcotics Unit mentioned the names of drug dealers who often send methamphetamine from abroad, namely China, to be circulated between regions in Indonesia by sea using expedition transportation services," he said.
Armed with this information, the Sidoarjo Police Narcotics Unit, conducted an investigation into the information on the delivery of large amounts of methamphetamine from China which would enter by sea, and circulated in the areas of Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Kalimantan.
From a series of investigations during one month, members of the Sidoarjo Police Narcotics Unit received information that large quantities of methamphetamine would enter the Sidoarjo area.
Furthermore, on July 22, 2024, Iyek, who rode a silver Grandmax pickup carrying two pallet wooden crates containing white crystalline powder, allegedly methamphetamine in the form of plastic packages using Chinese Tea packages weighing a total of 30 kilograms.
"When the arrest was about to be made at the Sidoarjo toll gate, the driver of the MI alias Iyek pickup, tried to escape at high speed so that a chase was carried out and the vehicle could be stopped in front of the Pondok Mutiara Housing Pujasera," said the East Java Police Chief.
The evidence that was secured by the police included a silver pickup grandmax, two palette wooden crates containing white crystalline powder (shabu) wrapped in Chinese tea packaging. A total of 30 packs per pack of 1 kg are in total with a total weight of 30 kilograms
The suspect MI alias Iyek was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of life imprisonment or the death penalty.
