KKP Calls Products Olahsan Tuna And Cacalang RI Free Of Japanese Import Duty

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that the processed products of tuna and skipjack from Indonesia managed to get a duty-free facility to enter Japan.

This was marked by the signing of the text of the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership (IJEPA) amendment protocol agreement by the Indonesian Minister of Trade with the Japanese Foreign Minister on August 8, 2024.

The details of the product in question include four tariff posts, namely skipjack and other bonito in airtight containers (HS 1604,14,010), shoots in airtight containers (HS 1604,14,092), skipjack and other bonito coiled and drained (HS 1604,14,091) and others (HS 1604,14,099).

"Of course this is a gift in the month of independence and hopefully it can increase exports of these products to Japan and attract investment in the fisheries sector in Indonesia," said Director General of Strengthening Competitiveness for Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) Budi Sulistiyo in his official statement, quoted Thursday, August 15.

Budi said, for two products HS 1604,14,091 and HS 1604,14,099, they have additional requirements, namely the size of the raw material at least 30 cm. Related to this, the KKP and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) Japan are finalizing operational procedures through goods certificates.

"Indonesia proposes to use the Fish Capture Result Certificate (SHTI) as a fulfillment of the requirements in question. Given that SHTI has been harmonized with the Japan Catch Documentation Scheme (JCDS)," he said.

According to Budi, in addition to the four tariff posts for processed products above, Indonesia has also received a 0 percent tariff exemption for 67 fishery product tariff posts to the Japanese market, including frozen yellow tuna, fresh boneless meat (fillet), fillet swingfish or frozen fish, shells, processed lobsters and frozen crabs.

"All of these agreements will begin to be implemented after the ratification process in the parliaments of the two countries," he added.
