Police Raid Board Members Gambling At The DPRD Building, The Evidence Is Playing Cards
JAKARTA - The Rote Ndao Police, East Nusa Tenggara, raided three members of the Rote Ndao Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), a council secretary (sekwan) and a journalist in the district because they were caught gambling inside the DPRD building.
Kapolres Rote Ndao AKBP Filly Hermanto said the arrests of the three members of the council, one secular officer and a journalist were carried out after a report had been filed with the police regarding these illegal activities.
"The gambling activity is carried out at night, namely on Wednesday, March 24, the night after office activities are closed," said the police chief.
The incident began when members of the Rote Ndao Police Criminal Investigation Unit received a report that there was gambling activity at the Rote Ndao DPRD building.
Arriving at the DPRD office at around 8:00 p.m. local time, the members found that there were still several motorized two- and four-wheeled vehicles in the dam garage also in the lobby of the DPRD building.
Then the Criminal Investigators immediately checked every room, both on the first and second floors.
"On the second floor, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit found a member of the DPRD with the initials YAD coming out of the room used to carry out gambling," he said.
From the results of the interrogation of YAD, YAD admitted that he and four other people with the initials ZYA, AP, BK and HG had finished gambling in the Main Assembly room of the Rote Ndao Regency DPRD Office.
After receiving this information the members immediately returned to combing the DPRD building including the Main Meeting room, in that room the members found five chairs in a circular position and two packs of playing cards along with card sheets.
In this sweeping too, members did not find any gambling activities or prizes / money as bets because the game activities had stopped before the raid was carried out.
"So indeed we are late because indeed when the raid was carried out the playing card gambling activity was over," he added.
The police immediately brought members of the council, securities and also a journalist to the police station for investigation purposes. And from the results of the investigation it was found that YAD, ZYA, AP and BK were gambling in the courtroom.
"HG, who is a journalist, is known to have not participated in gambling. HG was only present in the room, but he only watched and did not play gambling," he added.
Furthermore, he said, after being secured for examination and detained for one night at the Rote Ndao Police Headquarters, the three members of the council, the secretary and journalist were sent home on the grounds that there was not enough evidence.
