Anies Calls The Matraman Fire That Killed 10 People From A Motorcycle In Gang Buntu

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the fire that occurred in Matraman, East Jakarta was triggered by a burning motorbike, then spread into the rented house.

This allegation was conveyed by Anies Baswedan when he came to the Mataraman fire location and met the survivors. There were 10 victims who died in the fire.

"This time the cause is not electricity and stove, but a motorbike outside the house caught fire and then closed the narrow alleyway. But, the cause and others let the police take care of it," said Anies at the location, Thursday, March 25.

Anies said that the Matraman fire was a little different from what usually happens. This is because the DKI Provincial Government's anti-fire task force noted that fires in residential areas usually occur due to short circuits and stoves.

"We are carrying out a campaign to have a task force in each village to prevent fires due to electricity and stoves because those two are the most frequent. But in terms of prevention, especially electricity and gas, it will continue to be encouraged," said Anies.

Anies guaranteed that all victims will be given temporary shelters. Their life necessities such as eating and drinking will be facilitated for the next 21 days.

"We make sure the contractor who was burned has a temporary shelter. God willing, victims who are still healthy, who have lost their homes, are prepared," said Anies.
